Driving North

There were two photo-worthy spectacles from the drive up the M1/A1 yesterday – the first I couldn’t easily stop to capture, but consisted of very thin but dense layer of fog around Durham – not even as thick as the tree-tops, just sitting on the ground in the hollows. A really great, eerie sight. The second spectacle [...]

Market Value

I’ve noted it before, but have recently been reminded, how good eBay (and by inference, I suppose, free markets) is at finding the ‘correct’ value for items. I’m referring specifically to items which are not (unduly) supply constrained, which is not the case for collectibles and the like – the items in question are generally mass-produced goods [...]

D90

Looks much as expected – the same screen and sensor as the D300, in a body which is basically identical to the D70/D80. Also includes the D300′s sensor cleaning and ‘Picture Controls’, but not the focusing system, which is a shame – but perhaps not surprising, since they need a reason for people to buy [...]

Lack of fear

Mouse, spotted running merrily around Bristo Square / beside the Udderbelly. Apparently either oblivious to, or totally unfazed by, humans, including humans shoving a a 30mm lens at it. Wish I’d had a macro on me, the f1.4 won’t focus down that close.

Heal’s Staircase

Deir-el-Bahri

Experimenting with another way of bringing photos into posts, using the media features of WP 2.5. It’s also a nice picture though.

Ibn Tulun

Ibn Tulun, originally uploaded by Zakalawe. Jamie suggested I link to some of the more interesting Egypt photos now they’re online. This is Ibn Tulun mosque in Cairo, late in the afternoon and totally deserted, almost certainly the best way to see it.

Trying it out.

Wide, originally uploaded by Zakalawe. The obligatory architectural shot at the wide-end. Expect many more of these.

Wide

Went to Jessops to buy an air-blower. Which worked great, incidentally. Unfortunately, the following conversation took place at the till: You know, you can get that half-price if you buy it with a DSLR Haha, cheers guys, I’ve already got one, hence the air blower. If you had the Sigma 10-20mm in a Nikon fit, [...]
